During hybrid-spotting, invented by Array-On, partial double stranded DNA hybrids from a synthetic oligonucleotide and a gene fragment are deposited on DNA chips. This technique does not interfere with existing patents. With the accomplishment of state-of-the-art inventions or other patents, pure oligonucleotides (fully single stranded) or PCR fragments (fully double stranded) are synthesised or spotted onto DNA chips. After hybrid-spotting, hybridisation on the array is not necessary since probe and sample are spotted together and are prevented from separating in the subsequent analysing process.
“Area SNP Chips” contain numerous separated primer extension areas that are coated with different primer extension oligonucleotides and are also new. Manually or automatically applied DNA samples anneal in the designated areas to the oligonucleotides and primer extension is performed. This prevents cross-hybridisation and opens up several ways to product development.
